Eating Disorders

Research suggests that about one percent (1%) of teenage girls have anorexia. That means that about one out of every one hundred young women between ten and twenty are starving themselves, sometimes to death.

 

1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. 82% of all juvenile victims are female. Females ages 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.

Depression is the most common mental health disorder in the United States among teens and adults. 2.8 million youth age 12-17 had at least one major depressive episode in 2014.

One in three adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner, a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth violence.
